How To Use
- Clean the area thoroughly before applying and pat dry
- Apply an even layer to the affected area twice a day, AM and PM
- Allow the area to dry fully before sun exposure
PRO TIP: BIOCORNEUM should be on the scar 24 hours a day during the time of treatment. This allows for the gel to really work on the area and fully protect it.

What's the difference between Biocorneum vs. NewGel?
Both Biocorneum and NewGel+ products use silicone as the main ingredient to heal scars and help fade them. One of the main differences between NewGel+ and Biocorneum is the existence of SPF in Biocorneum exclusively, and the types of scars they both treat. The key ingredient in Biocorneum is FDA-Cleared Silishield© Technology that crosslinks silicone and has SPF 30 protection. This technology advances the benefits of traditional silicone sheeting through an easy-to-use gel. This medical-grade silicone helps to keep the skin around a scar hydrated and helps to control excessive collagen formation that can lead to abnormal scarring. Biocorneum’s other active ingredients include Octinoxate 7.5%, Octisalate 5.0%, Octocrylene 10% and Oxybenzone 6.0%. Together, these ingredients work to provide the skin and scarred area with SPF protection necessary for a scar to heal and to prevent discoloration. It also comes in a formula with 1% hydrocortisone to relieve itching. Biocorneum should be applied on the affected area twice a day and allowed to dry completely to form a flexible, protective shield.

Biocorneum was given to me by my Plastic Surgeon when I got my breast implants,but in this smallest bottle. I purchased largest bottle,the 1.73 oz(50g) because it lasts longer and of course,the price. It lasts several months,and I tend to use more than needed. Always by the largest. I had plastic surgery in March and my surgeon recommended this scar cream. I was not able to afford it, so I tried every other scar product out there (three different kinds of mederma, bio oil, neosporin, and countless other discounted items on Amazon) none of which improved results. This has been the only scar product that has actually reduced the size and improved the appearance of my scars, and I’ve only been using it for 2 weeks. It is very expensive and the bottle is very small, but a little bit goes a long way. I’m hoping with continued use that my scars will continue to diminish.

Using the gel since facial op in March 2024. Scar of about 2", diagonally down R cheek. Surgeon did an outstanding job of wound closure (a tiny melanoma), and the gel seems to be an effective barrier to help the scar continue to heal. Not having any way to measure what it would look like if I did not use the gel, I presume it is helpful, as the generic use of a silicone gel was highly recommended by the doctor. Very pleased with the quality. Highly recommend product AND DermStore company.

BIOCORNEUM is really easy to apply and takes no time at all. I have not had any adverse reactions to it as well, as I sometimes do. It seems a bit pricey but if it helps the incision area of my MOHS surgery heal with little noticeable scar (I have a very large incision on my left temple area), then it will be worth it! I would probably give this product 5 stars, but it is still too early to tell how long healing will take, and what effect the BIOCORNEUM has had on the process. However, at this time BIOCORNEUM provides a very nice, comfortable, protective covering over the healing area and protects it from the sun while I am outside (to help reduce ugly hyperpigmentation). Some nice video tutorials on proper application, what drying is supposed to look like, and other helpful hints on healing delicate surgical areas on the face would be very worthwhile.

I only gave this 4 stars, as I am waiting to see the results. I have a scar on my back from a lipoma removal which caused some hypertrophic scarring. I've applied twice a day to a fresh scar on my son's forehead since his 3 stitches came out. Recommended by the PA-C who stitched him at the ER and also later by our plastic surgeon for deeper and facial scars such as this vs Mederma. Too soon to know how it'll ultimately turn out as the PS said it takes 6 months-1 year for a scar to fully form, but no adverse reactions on his sensitive 4 year old skin and the scar is still a light red color but does not appear to be darkening at all. We were told the best we could really hope for is for the scar to heal the same color as the surrounding skin. Also this product from DW is legit and the texture and dry down is really different from a bottle I tested from Amazon at half the price. You get what you pay for. This one is a creamy white consistency whereas the Amazon one was separated and mostly clear with white streaks. This one also dries smooth and more matte vs the Amazon looks shinier and stays tacky. Took off one star due to price and that it's hard to find a legit one online.

I ordered this for my recent surgery scars. Started using it once I got the doctor's approval to apply the lotion to the scar. After 2 weeks I couldn't really see much difference so I stopped applying. I then got silicone stickers. Those worked much better and were more accessible pricewise.

I tried a bunch of scar treatment creams but biocorneum is by far the best. You spend more, but you get ALOT more out of it. I did breast reconstruction using my tummy (diep flap) so I have lots of scars and big ones too. The results with biocorneum are pretty amazing. Honestly. The spf is very useful too. I even use it now on other small scars that disappear only a few days after use. Highly recommend!

Not sure how effective this is yet. Just be aware this product is extremely gooey and does not soak into the skin easily. So..if you are using on the head or face it make hair look greasy. I use it in the shower when my skin is semi-wet and warm; it seems to soak in easier but still leaves gooey residue. If I had to do this over, I would order the smallest bottle first and give it a try. I am still hoping this will help my scar and reduce redness / thickness.

Extremely pricey, have yet to see results. I recently had a tummy tuck and my cosmetic surgeon recommended this. I give this three stars because of the price, which is a gamble, because I know that I won't see actual results to judge by for about a year. Let's hope that with continued use it'll make a dent in this scar appearance.

I tried so many different products for my post-surgery (mastectomy, diep flap and breast reconstruction) scars and nothing really compared to this. No matter what I tried, I ended up going back to biocorneum. There's really no better product out there for this kind of scar treatment. I get the largest size and it lasts for months but I only use it once a day (but I also have alot of scars!). The spf is a plus, and I had no reaction to it. I'm pretty sensitive to SPF. So, honestly it may be on the pricey side but that's because it's really the best product out there for these types of scars.

It's been a little over a week post-surgery and my incision area is already looking good. I have dark skin and with this being my first major surgery, I was worried about scaring. Found a recommendation on Dr. Hochstein's instagram that convinced me to give Biocorneum a try. I am applying the product on 6 month old surgical scars in the underarm area. The actual silicone strips would not stay in place in this area. This gel is the solution. Apply gel and it dries to give you the silicone covering that they say is great for scar reduction. Would also be ideal for face as there is sunscreen in it. Friend of mine is using it for post skin cancer scars. I noticed an immediate difference just in 2 days of use and look forward to the long term results. I also apply Vitamin E high concentrate, let is absorb and then apply the gel.

My son had facial surgery so it's important to me that his scar is taken care of properly. This is clearly a superior cream to pretty much anything else you can get over the counter. We have Mederma for back up and it feels like a regular lotion. This is thicker, spreads in better, and works into the skin more easily. I love that it has sunscreen in it as well.
