Skincare Across the Seasons

As the seasons of the year change and the weather changes, your clothes change, your hobbies change, and your skin may change, depending on where you live. Our skin is often highly influenced by our environment and its conditions, and it can often drive an increase in skin concerns or even shift our skin type for the time being. The climate can seriously impact your skin, whether it involves making it extra dry, extra oily, dehydrated, or more prone to breakouts. While your skin will likely always stay somewhat in the same type, you may see a shift during different seasons, and may want to switch up your skincare. Below, we’ll show you how each season might affect your skin and what ingredients and products will be helpful for this season.

Spring: Ah, the beautiful weather that is Spring. Your skin might feel the most normal in the Spring, as the weather isn’t too jarringly hot or cold- usually. After a cold winter, you’re probably anxious to get outside and enjoy the weather, but one of the most important things to remember- as you’re spending more time in the sun, don’t forget your sunscreen! It may be beneficial to continue use of an exfoliating cleanser in the Spring, like the Glytone Mild Gel Cleanser (for oily skin) and the Glytone Mild Cream Cleanser (for dry skin.) Both of these cleansers utilize free glycolic acid to gently exfoliate the skin and leave it feeling clean and fresh.

Summer: There’s nothing better than laying out by the pool on a hot summer day, enjoying some time off. However, when it comes to your skin, summer can make oilier skin, an increase in breakouts, and sun spots- these can be avoided with consistent sunscreen use. For the Summer, you’ll want to use a cleanser that is deep-cleaning and clears out the pores, like the DCL Active Mattifying Cleanser with salicylic acid and lactic acid. You’ll likely be spending a lot of time in the sun, so it’s important to use a Vitamin C serum in the morning to fight off free radicals. The Jan Marini C-Esta Face Serum protects the sun from free radicals while fighting signs of aging and brightening the skin.

Autumn: Like Spring, Autumn weather can be fairly temperate, depending on where you live, and can be a chance for your skin to recover from the sun-scorching summer. However, like Winter, it brings cooler weather, meaning your skin might need some extra moisture and TLC to keep it from getting too dry and irritated. You’ll need a boost of moisture in the Fall, so cleanse with a gentle cleanser like the La Roche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser, with ceramides, niacinamide, and glycerin to help restore and hydrate your skin.

Winter: With colder weather usually comes a drop in moisture, which can drastically affect the skin. This colder weather plus the increase in wind can make your skin dehydrated, dry, and even cause it to crack and become irritated. This means you’ll probably have to up your moisture levels, even if you typically have oily skin. In the Winter, you’ll want to really focus on bringing hydration back into your skin, even if it doesn’t feel dehydrated. The ClarityRx Cleanse Daily cleanser is infused with olive oil, rose hip seed oil, and vitamins to keep your skin nourished and hydrated when it needs it the most. As you’re trying to repair any damage (hopefully none) that you gained over the summer, you’ll want a serum formulated for hyperpigmentation, like the Allies of Skin Mandelic Pigmentation Corrector Night Serum that works to treat large pores, dark spots, breakouts, uneven texture and more with a powerhouse combination of natural ingredients.
